The DS residency/commission programme will aim to strengthen the infrastructure and network of media arts professionals in the South of England through peer to peer collective working. All participating partners venues will be expected to share resources, knowledge, skills and ideas. It is intended to create a lasting network of organisations and individuals who will work on future projects outside of and beyond the remit of Distributed South.
Key partners are drawn from the 4 participating ACE funding regions with 2 - 4 key partners in each region who will each host a residency of up to 3 months with a media artist. They will work with other organisations and industry partners who have expressed an interest in being involved in workshops, networked events, seminars, and/or exhibitions from the residencies. Through these partnerships, the extensive skills in the four regions will be imported and exported to create a throughflow of ideas and resources circulated across the South. This process is intended to develop a peer to peer network and to build capacity in the regions as well as providing an exciting participatory programme for audiences.
