Distributed South has been set up to use new media tools to promote emergent models of sharing resources and partnerships. Common in the business world, the idea of sharing equipment, ideas, skills and resources is potentially essential for media arts to move forward. We aim, as a network, to inform development of the media arts sector, particularly in South of England and to do this through a series of exhibitions and residencies based around a core network of artists and arts organisations.
We'd like to know your thoughts on the network as projects begin to unfold and here are some questions that might be worth addressing (please let us know of anything else you think needs to be discussed):
- What is Distributed South to you?
- Are there things that could be addressed that have not been so far?
- What do you think the benefits are and could be, and who for? You? The Sector? The general public?
- What do you think of the work to date? Any strengths or weaknesses?
- Why is it and can it be useful for Media Arts practice to develop along these lines? How does this differ from 'traditional' art practice and culture? Why is this?
- How willing are you as artists and organisations to share resources, tools and ideas? What conditions do you think you need to be able to work in these ways?
- Are new partnerships being formed or old ones being enhanced through Distributed South?
- How can we identify developments within the sector? Are we seeing the rise of new communities within Media Arts? Where do we want to position our selves, does this matter?

- What is Distributed South
- What is Distributed South to you?
Access to potentially helpful and influential individuals & organizations.
- Are there things that could be addressed that have not been so far?
Directly addressing power relationships between: funders, organisations and artists (this obviously affects possible dialog).
What do you think the benefits are and could be, and who for? You? The Sector? The general public?
- Development of further high quality residencies would be a good thing for all.
RE: other questions
Perhaps best to focus on just a few questions at a time.
